Generally, you noticed that your phone runs out of battery after sometime. There are some tips to save phone’s battery:
1.Identify the reason
First of all, you have to figure out which apps are consuming your battery life most. To identify which apps you should close when not in use,
Go to Settings > General > Usage > Battery usage.
You can close the apps which are currently not in use.
In android,Go to Settings > Battery to see what’s consuming your phone’s battery. Applications will display in a descending list .You can uninstall the app or turn off the feature which you barely use.
2.Turn on auto-brightness
The iPhone has an ambient light sensor that adjusts the brightness of the screen based on the light around it i.e.darker in dark places and brighter when there’s more ambient light to both save battery and make it easier to see. Turn Auto-Brightness on and you’ll save energy because your screen will need to use less power in dark places.
3. Prevent Background App Refresh
This feature looks at the apps you use most often, the time of the day you use them, and then automatically updates them for you so that the next time you open the app, latest information is waiting for you.But this useful feature drains battery. In order to turn it off:
Go to Settings>General>Background App Refresh
4. Turn Push data off and Fetch data as ‘manually’.
The iPhone can be set to automatically suck email and other data down to it or, for some kinds of accounts, have data pushed out to it whenever new data becomes available. You’re probably realized by now that accessing wireless networks costs you energy, so turning data push off, and thus reducing the number of times your phone connects to the network, will extend your battery’s life. With push off, you’ll need to set your email to check periodically or do it manually .
5. Let your phone complete one charge cycle each month
A charge cycle is when you charge the phone to 100% and let the battery power drain completely, after which you charge it again. Going through a charge cycle per month keeps the electrons in the Phone’s lithium battery properly greased.
6. Give it space when charges
You may notice that your phone gets warm when it charges. If your phone is wrapped up in a case while charging, the excess heat may affect the battery power.Be sure to give your phone adequate space while it’s charging.
7. Update to the latest software
Software engineers implement frequent changes to your Phone’s software, making it necessary to update to the latest software in order to harness those changes.
8. Shut Down Parallax
Some people like how Apple’s parallax feature makes it seem like the wallpaper can move behind the apps, others think it’s dizzying. Either way ,it’s one of the biggest offenders of battery life for IOS 8.To turn it off,
Go to settings>General>Accessibility and switch Reduce motion to “on”.
9. Run Down your Battery as much as possible
It is a fact, that more often you charge a battery ,less energy it holds.
Over time, the battery remembers the point in its drain at which you recharge it and starts to treat that as its limit. For example, if you always charge your Phone when it’s still got 75% of its battery left, eventually the battery will start to behave as if it’s total capacity is 75%, not the original 100%.The way to get around your battery losing capacity in this way is to use your phone as long as possible before charging it. Try waiting until your phone is down to 20% (or even less!) battery before charging. Just make sure not to wait too long.
10.Check out the signal strength
If you are not in your network coverage area then your phone tries to find out the network which consumes more battery. That’s why it is better to keep your phone on airplane mode when you are not in coverage.
11.Update the apps
You should make sure your apps are up to date because applications often get updated to use less battery . You can update your apps through google play store(in android) by hitting the menu key and going to My Apps or App store(in iPhone).
12.Turn down the brightness
Screen brightness also consumes more power. So you should have to reduce the brightness. This one is very much helpful to save battery.
13. Keep your phone at room temperature.
You must keep your phone at normal temperature i.e. 16 C to 25 C. if you keep your phone at very high or very cool temperature then it will affect your battery life adversely. The above given range is best suited for a good battery life.
14. Buy an extended Life Battery
If nothing from above works, then just get more battery. A few accessory makers offer extended life batteries for iPhone. With an extended battery life, you’ll get days more standby time and many hours more use.
Some more useful tips are:
- When no coverage exists switch to airplane mode.
- Turn off Wi-Fi , Personal Hotspot, Bluetooth and air-drop.
- Quitting the apps doesn’t save battery, they must be properly closed.
- Put your phone on short auto-lock(less than or equal to one-minute).
- Stop Location -tracking apps.
- Do less battery intensive things.
